Job Summary
North Texas Medical Center (NTMC) is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible General Surgeon to join a thriving, established practice in Gainesville, Texas. This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-volume role created by the retirement of a long-term community staple. If you are looking for a collaborative environment where you can practice broad-spectrum general surgery while enjoying a cost of living 24% below the national average, this position is for you.
Join a hospital-employed practice that balances clinical excellence with a true community-oriented mission. Our surgical volume is currently split approximately 50% scopes and 50% surgical cases. This is a non-robotic environment, ideal for a surgeon who is confident in traditional and laparoscopic techniques and values a well-organized, busy surgical department.
You will be supported by a modern 125,000-square-foot facility situated on a beautiful 52-acre campus. With an expanded ED and a 15-bed outpatient surgery center, you will have the infrastructure needed to provide top-tier care to a multi-county service area.
Requirements
- MD or DO from an accredited program.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery.
- Comfortable with a 50/50 mix of scopes and surgical cases.
- Seeking a surgeon interested in a long-term community commitment.
- Eligible for a Texas Medical License.
- Note: Locum tenens candidates will not be considered for this permanent role.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary: $350,000 – $405,000 (Salary + wRVU model, not payor-sensitive)
- Signing Bonus: $10,000
- Commencement Bonus: $10,000
- Call Pay: Additional compensation for call > 10 days/month (negotiable).
- APP Supervision: $500/month per APP.
- Retirement: 401(k) and 403(b) with employer matching.
- Time Off: 20 days PTO annually + 5 paid CME days.
- Allowances: $5,000 CME allowance + $2,000 for fees/dues.
- Insurance: Comprehensive Health, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, and Disability.
- Malpractice: Covered, including Tail Coverage.
- Loan Repayment: NHSC Loan Repayment Eligible site.
- Relocation: Assistance available for the right candidate.
